Armosa
Nestled in Scicli, in the province of Ragusa, ARMOSA was founded in 2002 with the vision of reviving high-quality vineyards in a region with an ancient winemaking tradition. In 2003, the estate established its first vineyard, cultivating Nero d'Avola, an indigenous Sicilian grape variety. The winery's core focus is to craft wines that truly narrate the story of a specific land and culture, embodying the unique terroir through their distinct character, aromas, and flavors. As a small-scale estate, ARMOSA cultivates approximately 4.8 hectares of Nero d'Avola vineyards and 0.1 hectares of Moscato Bianco vineyards. The viticultural approach prioritizes optimal balance to ensure the production of healthy, high-quality grapes. Grapes are hand-picked during the coolest parts of the day, with rigorous selection of the finest bunches conducted directly in the vineyard. The winery is housed in a renovated historic rural building dating back over a century. It is equipped with modern stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled fermentation and a barrel cellar for wine aging. The winemaking process employs minimal intervention to preserve the wine's inherent integrity. Its guiding philosophy is succinctly expressed as: "Time acts upon the wine, not man."
