Fontemorsi
Fontemorsi is located in Montescudaio, Province of Pisa, Tuscany, nestled in the rolling hills of the Cecina Valley between the Etruscan Coast and the ancient town of Volterra, within the heart of the Montescudaio Rosso DOC appellation. The estate covers 22 hectares, including 8.5 hectares of vineyards, all ICEA-certified organic with no chemical herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. Sangiovese is the dominant red variety, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and local grapes, while white wines are mainly blended from Viognier and Chardonnay. All grapes are hand-harvested, sorted in the vineyard, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and aged in either cement vats, large oak casks or new French oak barrels depending on the cuvée, followed by extended bottle ageing before release. Fontemorsi follows a minimalist intervention philosophy, rejecting industrial shortcuts and allowing time to give the wines natural depth and character.
